The existence of Meet the Tutor Evenings and Parents Evenings provide two quite different opportunities within the academic year for parents to come in to school and engage with their daughter’s education. We are committed to involving parents in their daughter’s education and progress at school and feel that these two very different events complement each other perfectly.
Meet the Tutor Evening
Parents are invited yearly to a Meet the Tutor Evening: presentations by students from the year group and a topical presentation from members of the Senior Leadership Team that allow opportunities for discussion about issues pertinent to that particular year group. Recently we have discussed E-Safety, your daughter’s digital footprint, leadership opportunities, the new GCSEs and building confidence. Parents have the opportunity to talk to their daughter’s form tutor in a relaxed setting. Photographs of your daughter in some of her lessons will be on display.
Parents’ Evening
Parents’ Evenings are held annually for each Year group. This is a formal and individual opportunity to discuss your daughter’s progress with her subject teachers.
Senior Staff are also available in the course of the evening to answer any general queries you may have. Year Leaders and pastoral staff are also available, should you need to discuss any concerns you may have regarding your daughter’s wellbeing.
Girls are expected to wear full school uniform as this is a formal meeting that they also attend as part of their training to take a proactive role in their own academic success. It is useful for parents to discuss with their daughters beforehand any concerns they may have or specific advice needed, thus making the most use of the individual appointment time
Appointments will be of 5 minutes duration and we request that both staff and parents keep to these times as much as possible. If longer discussions are required then a subsequent meeting could be arranged at a time to suit both parties.
The Appointments System
Please list in the Student Logbook the 8 staff you would like to consult (for Sixth Form students, the appointment sheet is attached to the invitation letter). Each appointment will be for 5 minutes and where possible a 5 minute gap should be made between appointments.
- The two blank rows on the appointment sheet are for teachers’ use if they feel they would particularly like to see a student and her parents. We expect these will normally remain blank.
- Your daughter will bring the completed page back into School and make appointments with her subject staff. Staff will attempt to arrange as many of the requested interviews as possible.
Car Parking
As we do not have sufficient car parking facilities in the school grounds we request that you use Rectory Lane Car Park. This is a short three minute walk from the School.
