Women’s History Month: Dame Margaret Anstee

Posted: 17th March 2022

Today we are celebrating the incredible life and work of CCHS Aluma Dame Margaret Anstee who has been an inspiration to students past and present for her international impact in her role at the United Nations. Not only was she the first woman to reach the rank of Under Secretary General at the UN and to head a UN military peacekeeping force but she was also an outstanding lecturer and author. After leaving CCHS in 1940, she read Modern and Medieval Languages achieving a First-Class Degree at Newnham College, University of Cambridge. In school we celebrate her global contribution and love of languages every day in our Anstee building.
